2016 · The beginning
STARS and BARS was founded in 2016 by Joshua Quinn, driven by a burning passion to help.
Our roots
The institute first started off with students of ethnic groups and people of color who were facing discrimination, racism, and unfair treatment.
Late 2024 · The UAE
Joshua spread his knowledge and mentorship from America all the way to the UAE, where he has been operating since late 2024.
Today
Now including all kinds of students, providing support to those with personal, social, emotional wellbeing and behavioral challenges, including neurodivergent students.
Leadership
Our Intern Leadership Structure
Major decisions are made by the board. Each board member has voting power and a specialized role.
President
Chief spokesman for the organization. Sets the vision and executes the mission.
Vice President
Second-in-command, overseeing the mentee experience across all program sectors.
Secretary
Responsible for all documentation and internal communication.
CICO
Restorative justice and organizational compliance.
Mentor Coordinator (2)
Both are responsible for organizing mentor trainings and mentor-mentee relations.
Treasurer
Responsible for all financial activities.

90% of every contribution goes to the cause and 10% goes to STARS and BARS. We track every contribution and share the running total, so you always know exactly where your money goes.

On the 30th of each month, the cause's 90% goes out as a single donation; no fragmentation, maximum transparency.
New cause every month
We rotate the beneficiary so our giving reaches different communities and themes over the year.

STARS Institute is a mentorship and wellbeing platform for students in Grades 6–8, focused on sisterhood, tenacity, awareness, resilience, and self love.
Students, mentors, school advisors, and program partners. Mentees get matched with mentors; admins oversee programs; sponsors and partners support initiatives.
Mentors and mentees connect online. Sessions, goals, and progress are tracked in one place.
Admins can oversee program-wide activity and view private chats for safety and moderation.
The platform is built for school programs and can be used alongside existing school systems. Integration details are product-specific.
Yes. Sponsors and partners can support specific programs, conferences, and school collaborations.
